2011 NBA Draft Hype: Bismack Biyombo

22 Jun

This year’s NBA Draft doesn’t have a lot of talent and doesn’t help the doldrums that fans of the NBA (or any sports fan that doesn’t like baseball) are currently in with a lockout looming. However, there are some players that look like they could stay in the league and Bismack Biyombo could be one of them.

I saw an interview on Grantland about Biyombo and saw some highlights of him playing at the Nike Hoop Summit this year. Biyombo notched a triple double with 12 points, 11 boards, and 10 blocks. The blocks stand out because he was doing it against the best high school players from the US which includes Duke’s Austin Rivers (who is going to be a lottery pick in next year’s draft.)

Biyombo has been playing pro basketball since he was 16 and looked like a man among boys on defense in the Hoop Summit game. Expect him to come into the NBA and play solid minutes for a playoff contender. Don’t be surprised if you see him at All-Star Weekend playing in the Rookie game.
