For you hockey fans out there, I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the greatness that is Doc Emrick. If you’re a Devils fan like myself (and I know you are), you were probably saddened (crushed, actually) to hear today that Doc stepped down as the Devils play-by-play man after 21 glorious seasons.
Welcome to our third installment in this eye-opening series about what your server thinks about you (and likely discusses behind your back) when you go out to eat. With each post we attack a specific area of annoyance, and today that area is camping out.
You’ve all done it before, and don’t pretend to not know what I’m talking about. You are out to a nice dinner with your family and/or friends. The food was good, the drinks were good, and you might have even been polite to your server in the process. The check comes and you pay it, and maybe, just maybe you left a 20% tip. At this point (if you are a normal person), your restaurant experience is over and it’s time to go home…but you aren’t normal, are you?
At this year’s Glastonbury Festival in England, Radiohead played a surprise set which included many tracks off of their latest album The King of Limbs. For those of you stateside that need your Radiohead concert fix (they haven’t toured the U.S. since their tour for In Rainbows a few years ago), a Radiohead fansite has spliced together 34 different fan videos to make one seemless string of footage of their set at Glastonbury. Video is just south of an hour and a half. Enjoy!
Oh, and *spoiler alert* you can be sure that Radiohead will show up on a future installment of #BandsYouNeedToSeeLiveBeforeYouDie
A post dedicated to the lovely lady that delivered us bushels and bushels of views and almost delivered the United States with a victory in yesterday’s World Cup final. She’s now given me the idea of having a Babe Of The Week segment. And for the first installment, it’s America’s new sweetheart: Alex Morgan. Click on the jump for a few more candid pics.
Dear New Visitors,
It’s thrilling to see this amount of traffic on our site. We started this blog this past January and neglected it for awhile, but now it’s picking back up. We’re ready to rock. This past day, spearheaded by the live blog of the World Cup finals match, we’ve bested our views from three different months. In this day alone, we’ve bested our views from any week of this blog’s existence. We’re not stopping here and it starts with all of you. A good chunk of you simply want to come here and check out some Alex Morgan pics (yes, I see what search results lead many to our page) and I guarantee that if you’re fiending for Alex Morgan, you’re the right kind of person for the blog. So take a look at the archives, that’s what they’re there for. The “Greatest Hits” portion of the side bar is there for that purpose. But just know that we ain’t stopping here. We want this to grow and it starts with all of y’all. Don’t you wanna be one of the people that gets to say “Yeah, I was one of the first readers of that Strong Move website!” I thought so.
For my part, I am going to continue with the Mein Kampf: A Server’s Manifesto series tomorrow, a series in which we outline all of the gripes your waiter probably has against you. Then again later on in the week with another installment of #BandsYouNeedToSeeLiveBeforeYouDie (self-explanatory). A feature or two between those two pieces as well as some quick posts that are comprised of a video with a quick blurb, and that’s your weekly Strong Move reading. I can’t speak for Uncle Oakley or Dr. Klioze (the former of which is inundated with actual work but would love to see him periodically check in with us even with his great quick posts and the latter of which is strictly focused on our Mein Kampf series…for now), but I know what I’m after and I got a lot in store. This was always a long-term plan, I just ask you to stay with us for the ride. At the very least, I’m having a ton of fun.
Armando (Roll that ‘r’ baby)
Can this be it? Will the United States cap off their run through the World Cup with a victory over the upstart Japan squad, giving them a record-breaking three Women’s World Cup championships? Or will their miracle come from behind, last second victory over the favored Brazilian team go for naught? Be sure to keep us open in a tab throughout the game and refresh from time to time as we present you with yet another Strong Move Live Blog, this one chronicling the match between the United States and Japan. Coverage starts at 2:45 EST, but I’ll probably jump on a little earlier. Be there or be a failure.
The post-mortem blog last week for the USA-Brazil match was a huge success so, starting at around 2 PM Eastern, I will be here, on the Strong Move live blogging the Women’s World Cup Final in a classic East meets West matchup: USA vs. Japan. The last time the U.S. won a World Cup was in 1999, when they took down China. Can history repeat itself twelve years later, this time against their Asian brethren? We’ll find out tomorrow. I’ve given you an ample amount of time to get ready, so go to the liquor store in the morning and grab your favorite beverages and get ready to cozy up with your laptop and watch the game with me.
